It is my pleasure to strongly recommend Laurie Smallwood for the position of Mayor of Sandy, Oregon. This election is very important to the future of our community. I am confident that her leadership and commitment to Sandy make her an outstanding candidate.
Over the past 20 years I have personally worked with her in many capacities. I have also observed her involvement in improving every position and job she tackles. To my Sandy community,
I am proud to choose Laurie Smallwood as our next Mayor for the City of Sandy, Oregon. Laurie Smallwood has a deep connection and ability to listen and work with community members and businesses. I feel Laurie will lead Sandy into a thriving, inviting and wonderful place to live again.
My personal experience with Laurie consists of community collaboration of her off duty time. I myself, as a volunteer, admire her most for this. Besides being one of Sandy’s finest firefighters and paramedics, Laurie spends a lot of time volunteering. Laurie is selfless and giving of her time for the benefit of her community.I worked alongside her during the 2020 fires at Les Schwab Resource Station and there I acquired respect and admiration for her generosity, intelligence and dedication. Laurie put many hours into making sure our community had food, clothing, and resources all after hours of fighting fires. We talked about our public services, improvements and ways to support our local businesses and families. At each “Call for Volunteers” event that I was part of, there was Laurie Smallwood with her sleeves rolled up and ready to help in any capacity for her community. I feel Laurie’s skills are exactly what is needed for our growing small town. She understands from all angles, as a community member, employee, public servant and volunteer. I appreciate her openness in conversation and willingness to stand up and tackle the hard tasks that are needed to keep Sandy thriving.
With proud enthusiasm, I support Laurie Smallwood as our next Mayor of Sandy, Oregon. -

I have known Laurie for many years, and she is an absolute rockstar! Laurie serves tirelessly both personally and professionally on various boards, commissions, and in public safety within Sandy. While some elected officials seem to be focused on the next career move, Laurie has always served humbly wherever she is needed because she genuinely cares about Sandy. Laurie is ever present at community functions, always listening, to ensure she knows the community’s voice so she can better represent the will of the people within city government. Laurie has volunteered thousands of hours in this community she genuinely loves.I have seen Laurie tackle the tough issues facing the community, willing to speak the truth even when no one else on council would. Laurie’s integrity, tenacity, leadership, and willingness to always put the voices of our community in front of any agenda or bias makes her the absolute best choice to be our next mayor of Sandy. Please join my family and I in voting for the only candidate with the morals, demonstrated character, and small-town values necessary for Sandy to remain such a special place to live. I urge you to vote Laurie Smallwood as our next Mayor of Sandy. You won’t regret it!

I am endorsing Laurie Smallwood as the next Mayor of Sandy. It is critical that our city leadership be accountable for their words and their actions, and I know Laurie’s values and principles align with those of the residents she will represent. As a city councilor (and Council President) she stands out as the strong voice who will challenge the status quo when needed, and at times, be the lone opposing vote on important issues that deserve more investigation. This is true leadership and we need a Mayor who is FOR SANDY and not using the position as a platform to further their own agenda.
Laurie consistently demonstrates the highest levels of competence, commitment and most of all integrity in serving the community of Sandy. I believe this comes from a heartfelt desire to see the people here thrive, and see our town retain its character and unique qualities while successfully dealing with the challenges that come with the inevitable changes ahead.
Though my business is located in town, I live outside of city limits and do not get to vote for what happens in our city. If you are someone who has a vote, PLEASE use it to help correct the course our city government is on.
Let’s elect Laurie Smallwood for Mayor this November.Respectfully,
Faith Stewart

A letter to the Community of Sandy
Sandy voters, we have an important decision this upcoming November. We must decide if we are happy with the status quo in elected city leadership or do we want our voices represented.
Are you satisfied with a city government that continues to raise rates and enact fees forcing you to decide which bills you are going to pay? Can you afford to live in the city limits or are you forced to live outside? A city government who has overwhelmingly supported hiring practices that bring in staff that enact day-to-day decisions that do not affect them as they don’t reside within the city or even the same county. Are you satisfied with elected officials who have been overspending on their own special interest projects while failing to adequately fund needed staffing in our police and public works departments, promoting higher crime and roadway infrastructure problems? If you are like me the answer is a resounding “No.” Don’t be swayed by empty promises that the incumbents are going to do anything than they have already done. We’ve seen what they have to offer, and it isn’t good for Sandy.
Please join me in voting for true positive change, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and government accountability. Join me in voting for Laurie Smallwood, Shawna Lundry, and Aryn Ferguson as they possess the critical thinking and fresh ideas necessary to fix the failed policies of the current incumbents.Respectfully,
Sean A Lundry

I support Laurie for Mayor because she walks her talk.
Laurie made me feel that my opinion truly matters. She cares that while we may live outside the city limits, we actually do work, shop, eat, support other organizations, volunteer, and our kids go to school here. -

After leaving LaSalle and going to Sandy High my sophomore year, it was an extremely awkward time for teenager Brian. Making friends was not easy. I picked up an art class as an elective. The instructor informed us to buddy up. I was a a loss. I didn’t know anybody. And somehow, Laurie asked me if I wanted to be partners. It was an immediate “yes!” Scared little me was overjoyed. And we fit!
Over 2 decades later my sister makes a connection with Laurie through the Beer Den. All the memories of Laurie flooded back. I have only a few snapshots in my memory from back then. But the feeling is real. She picked me, a nobody from another school joining SH.
As I get older and replay chapters of my life, she definitely made an impact on mine. And I’m grateful.
